Did you make it downtown during Kootenai River Days to see all the art? Sidewalks up and down Main Street were covered with butterflies and happy faces, mountain scenes and hopscotch. Every day during the event, I had people with wide smiles tell me how much they were enjoying the colorful art.
The Second Annual Chalk had over 250 people participants, from toddlers to grandparents and everything in-between. The event highlighted that the world needs your art. It was exciting to see so many people, no matter how "unartistic" or "uncreative" they declare themselves to be, grab some chalk and add their mark on the sidewalk.
Congratulations to the contest winners! From the cutest stick figure drawings, to nature scenes, to portraits, the range of creativity was awe-inspiring. There were 69 contest entries from 57 people. Over 700 people voted! Five fantastic prizes worth over $500 were given out. You can check out the entries here.
And the winners are:
Zoe Heirston won the 7 & under Category
Emily Hart won the 7-13 Category
Kelsey Bateman won the 14+ Category
Stephanie Pruitt won the Teascarlet pick
Wylee Kimball was picked for the random drawing
Individual and business sponsors helped make this event a huge success. Thank you to Dawn Wagner, Peggy Sucsy, Cassie Olson, Teshra Do You, and Froyo Mama. And to the generous businesses who donated gift certificates to add to the prizes: Boundary Consignments, Bonners Books, and Simple Simon's Pizza. I'm already planning for next year. Definitely need to add a pro category. Let me know your ideas for next year by filling out this quick survey.
