With just a few days until the studio tour, I wanted to introduce you to the 12 artists.
Diana Stover is a gem of a human (plus she has the cutest turquoise shoes)! She creates in a variety of mediums.
Her art is about as eclectic as you can get, although personally I'm partial to her pastels.
If you're interested in learning what the 'tifaifai' technique is, don't miss her studio!
Theresa Stahl's art takes you on a "fanciful journey into mysterious realms filled with spirit, emotion, and whimsy."
Theresa beautifully expresses positivity and awe for the good around her, and I love having her energy as part of this tour.
Imagination and curiosity have been her teachers. Her life story and art journey are well worth a read.
Zackery Richards expressed feeling out of place amongst all us old lady artists, but I am super excited to have his badassery involved! I hope next year to have an even wider range of artforms.
He is a self-taught, multi-dimensional artist, specializing in custom tattoos, airbrushing, and canvas art. His art is obscure and unique, and I can't wait to see more of it myself.
Zackery shares a studio space with Theresa, his mother-in-law. They are currently working on a huge mural in the studio, which I haven't seen yet but can't wait to check out! It's also possible that he will be doing some live tattooing during the tour.
A. Lee Harris is driven by art, bringing her great pleasure through the mediums with which she creates, typically stone or naturally shed antler.
For years and years she was part of a snow sculpting team that competed internationally, which I find to be utterly fascinating.
Visit her studio to discover the many forms of sculpture she's capable of.
William Cox's art reflects life in rural Idaho. A Jack of all trades, not only in his creative processes, but also having built his own self-sustainable cabin, where you can see a variety of art mediums.
His work beautifully captures the essence and serenity of the nature we can often take for granted. It is evident through his work that he has a deep connection with his surroundings in the mountains and woods.
Me. I think you all know me a bit!
Here's one of my latest finished works, called "Swept Away." It sold 2 days after I finished it!
I've got lots more in progress, as always.
Heather Todd does mostly woodworking, but also grows her own dyes and pigments. She'll be at my studio showing the range of blue pigment that come from the green leaves of indigo plants.
We were recently talking about the possibility of a collaboration, and now I'm enthralled with the idea of experimenting with her indigo dyes!
Tamara Wagner's intricate scroll saw work transforms nature scenes into art. It is truly impressive to see the amount of detail she creates with tiny pieces of wood!
Visit her studio to see the tools she uses and hear about her creative processes.
Darrelyn Rose has been drawing and painting for over 60 years. Her landscape and nature paintings imbue a style that is realistic, sometimes impressionistic, with light reflecting mood.
Darrelyn also teaches acrylic painting to a handful of students each year, welcoming them into her cozy studio.
Denys Knight, a lettering and watercolor artist, also works with copper, cutting, hammering, and using a torch to create 3D works of art.
I had the opportunity to visit her studio last week, and I'm excited for others to experience it! Her process is intriguing, and her portfolio of past works is impressive.
Jenni Barry creates using a process called Kimekomi, where she tucks fabric into a groove. Her studio is a delight to see, especially the kimekomi ceiling!
Jenni is an enthusiastic educator of her craft, and once you hear a little about the process you'll be hooked!
Curtis Baruth's studio is at the old schoolhouse in Elmira where he has an artist collective. Visit to see his photographs and carving. He has been working to elevate the space, interested in bringing artists, musicians, and other creatives together.
This is a great lineup of artists for our very first studio tour! Read more about the artists here, where you can also link to their websites and social media. Hope to see you out and about on September 14th and 15th!
*Visit all 10 studios to be entered to win one of five gift certificates from our tour sponsors.
Thank you, Hannah, for your kindness in writing about each of us and what we do, and for all your hard work in putting together the studio tour. (Which surpassed every expectation I had!) I'm so glad I was part of it. It was wonderfully fun and I want to do it every year!! 🙂
